Project Date of completion: February 2018
The Women and Girls Foundation contacted Motor Mouth Multimedia to develop and implement a communications and marketing strategy for Femisphere Codeswitch, a hackathon to create apps that help single moms, especially those experiencing poverty, hack life’s problems.
Motor Mouth Multimedia, the parent company of Single Mom Defined, recruited and connected more than 30 mothers, who served as consultants, to web developers and coders. The effort provided technology solutions to problems moms currently face. The comprehensive plan included a target audience directory, survey promotion and distribution, focus groups, influencer marketing and graphic design/branding. Additionally, Motor Mouth Multimedia supported relationship-building efforts with single mothers, specifically those experiencing poverty, and organizations serving single mothers and children.
More than 30 mothers and 30 coders came together to develop numerous apps, two of which tied for first place in the competition. The hackathon garnered media attention for local and national outlets, including The Verge. Currently, Motor Mouth Multimedia is working with The Women and Girls Foundation and the Allegheny County Department of Human Services to further develop and maintain the app.
